is being told "You are such a strong person for sticking by Emilee and JP. They are so lucky to have you". Yeah well I'm tired of being that strong person IRL. Life sucks at home right now and I'm not handling it well at all! Guess what ...I'm HUMAN and I'm not as strong as everyone thinks.

It's almost oppressive isn't it?
I'm preparing my reading list for my class and could at this moment give you titles of articles discussing how praising people for their strength and goodness can be a way of keeping them powerless.
If you are good, courageous, and the kids are lucky because you are doing X, then it would seem that those same people would judge you to be bad, cowardly, and the children unlucky if you stop doing X.
People can praise you right into a cage if you let them.
I think that people aren't trying to be ignorant when they say those things, they just probably don't know what to say...and they think that they are helping in some way.
It can be hard to have to always be "strong", I know.
Good luck at your first therapy appointment. I'm very happy for you that you are getting in there...I know what a BIG help therapy can be.
